Thank you all for your calls and emails last week in support of Maryland House Bill 270 (HB270 Film Production Activity Tax Credit - Alterations). The bill received a positive hearing in the House Ways and Means Committee.

Let’s keep up the great momentum! We now need your help with reaching out to the Maryland Senate Budget and Taxation Committee for their support. Senator Melony Griffith has sponsored Senate Bill 452 (SB452 Income Tax – Film Production Activity Tax Credit – Alterations). This bill has a hearing in the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. This legislation will increase the annual amount of available tax credits to $25 million in fiscal year 2024 and then to $50 million in fiscal year 2025 and each year thereafter. This a cross-filed bill that is the same legislation introduced by Delegate Melissa Wells in HB270.

How can you help? Please take a moment to write to Chair Guy Guzzone and the members of the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee. Tell them who you are, what you do, why the film industry is important to you and your livelihood, and offer your support of SB452. Also, be sure to thank them for their continued support of the film industry! Please be sure to send your letters by Wednesday, February 22.

If you’d like to come to Annapolis to show your support in the hearing room, members of the Maryland entertainment industry will meet in the lobby starting at 12:30 p.m. at the Miller Senate Office Building, 11 Bladen Street, Third Floor West, Annapolis, MD 21401.
