Our congratulations to SAG-AFTRA member and NPR newscaster Lakshmi Singh, who will be honored, along with seven others, by Women of Color in Communications for her “contributions to the field, mentorship to other women in communications and broad impact on the promotion of ethnic diversity in journalism.” The ColorComm Circle award will be handed out in Miami on Aug. 7.

NPR Executive Producer of Newscast Division Robert Garcia stated, “We are very proud of this recognition of Singh’s contributions in the field, and particularly for her efforts to help lift up others through the years. Always nice to see those who pay it forward getting a little recognition.”

Singh will participate on a SAG-AFTRA panel at the Asian American Journalists Association Convention in Washington, D.C., at noon on Aug. 15. Actor Sakina Jaffrey and Singh will discuss how they have navigated their careers as South Asian women in the entertainment and news media industries with a special emphasis on how the landscape has — and hasn’t — changed in the years they have been working in their respective industries.

Congratulations from your friends and colleagues at SAG-AFTRA!
