At the Nevada Local Conservatory’s From Performer to Producer event on May 6, members enjoyed learning about the life journey of Destiny Faith, who has earned her way as a performer, actor, writer, producer and director.
Originally from Washington, D.C., Faith’s imagination revealed her adoration for storytelling. Even as a child, she was an avid reader and would often write, direct, choreograph and perform mini-musicals for friends and family. When she was 12, her family moved to Las Vegas, allowing her to foster her interest in theater at the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts, where she studied Shakespeare and the acting methods of Stanislavsky, Hagan, Adler and Meisner.
After graduating, she further honed her acting skills in several regional theater productions, including Memphis, Hairspray and Little Shop of Horrors. She also studied with prominent master coaches such as Las Vegas’ Adam Hill. An important part of the discussion was Faith’s emphasis on the ease and efficiency of the process when working with SAG-AFTRA to produce her initial project. Recently, Faith won the Local Filmmaker of the Year award at the 2018 Nevada Women’s Film Festival for her work as the producer, writer and director of her first short film, The Trap.
