Did you know that there is a new Commercials Code for the Washington-Mid Atlantic Local that is designed to bring more work?

The Washington-Mid Atlantic Regional Commercial Code sets special rates and terms for commercials that are made within the Washington-Mid Atlantic Local’s jurisdiction (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina). The commercial can air in any of the states that border the state in which the production occurs. For the Washington-Mid Atlantic that includes Virginia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia.

It is affordable, competitive, and very easy for producers to sign! We have already signed several projects to the contract and “flipped” some previously non-union work. This new Commercials Code is a tool you and other members can now use to get more commercial work opportunities, including some projects that may have previously been unavailable to union members.

But like any tool, the Washington-Mid Atlantic Commercials Code only works if people know about it and use it. So please help us help you by spreading the word. You can start by downloading and sharing the flyer below! Feel free to post it on social media, on your professional website, as a hand-out to local businesses (particularly any whose non-union commercials you may have seen), or any place you think would be appropriate.

We have one simple request. Please send us a quick note letting us know how you plan on using the flyer. Contact us if you have questions or need assistance. As always, if there is someone you think we should speak with to help “flip” a local commercial to a union contract, please email Ryan Hastings ryan.hastings@sagaftra.org, Jess W. Speaker III at jess.speaker@sagaftra.org or Jane Love at jane.love@sagaftra.org
