In celebration of Presidents Day, SAG-AFTRA offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 15.

FUN FACTS: The observed federal holiday is actually called Washington’s Birthday. Neither Congress nor the president has ever stipulated that the holiday observed as Washington’s Birthday be changed to Presidents Day. This is why there are some calendar discrepancies when it comes to the holiday.

While Presidents Day has unofficially expanded to celebrate other presidents (Lincoln's birthday is Feb. 12), media has been influential in how the vernacular has changed over the years because of advertising for Presidents Day sales.

Although the federal holiday is held on the third Monday of February, George Washington’s birthday is observed on Feb. 22. To complicate matters, Washington was actually born on Feb. 11! Those born before 1752 were instructed to add 11 days to their birth dates when America switched from using the Julian to the Gregorian calendar.
