SAG-AFTRA National Agency staff will hold a bi-coastal educational seminar on general service agreements, or GSAs (i.e. the contracts that some agents have been using to represent our members instead of the standard Legacy SAG agency contracts). These GSA contracts are signed outside of SAG-AFTRA’s protection, and it is imperative that members have a working knowledge of what these contracts say before signing them — your professional future and your income may depend on it. This educational seminar will be especially helpful to any member having trouble making sense of the complicated legal language contained in the GSAs that their agents have provided them. We urge all SAG-AFTRA members in Los Angeles and New York to attend. The event will not be taped, nor will any kind of recording device be permitted.

When: 3 – 5:30 p.m. (EST) / noon – 2:30 p.m. (PST), Thursday, March 14, 2013. There is only one meeting, held concurrently in L.A. and N.Y. (members in New York will participate live via videoconference). (RSVP required*)

Where: In New York: Eddie Cantor Board Room, 260 Madison Ave (between 38th and 39th streets), 7th Floor, New York, NY 10016. In Los Angeles: James Cagney Board Room (ground floor), 5757 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90036.

Who: The seminar will be conducted by the National Director/Senior Counsel for Agency Relations, Zino Macaluso, in Los Angeles. Only members with valid SAG-AFTRA ID cards will be permitted entry to this event. No exceptions will be made.  We strongly encourage all members who attend to bring a notepad and pen or a laptop with them to these meetings.

*RSVP: Performers interested in attending should immediately email the SAG-AFTRA agency mailbox at agency@sagaftra.org.Please write “SAG-AFTRA GSA Seminar—Reservation” in the subject line. Please also indicate if you are participating from Los Angeles or New York to ensure your reservation is processed in a timely manner. Only those members who have received confirmation emails from SAG-AFTRA may attend, so please act quickly as seating is limited.

Questions about upcoming events should be directed to the SAG-AFTRA Agency Department at (212) 863-4207 (New York) or (323) 549-6745 (Los Angeles). Any performer who has to cancel a reservation is required to notify SAG-AFTRA immediately so that members on the waiting list may be contacted. Thank you.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, March 14, 2013.
