Applications are now available for the 2013 round of the SAG Foundation’s John L. Dales Scholarships and the AFTRA Foundation’s Heller Memorial Scholarships. The SAG Foundation and AFTRA Foundation are proud to support qualified SAG-AFTRA members and their dependents in reaching their academic potential.
Both scholarships are competitive and require an essay in addition to application materials. The Dales application deadline is Friday, March 15, 2013 and the Heller application deadline is Wednesday, May 1, 2013.
John L. Dales Scholarship Fund
The SAG Foundation’s John L. Dales Scholarship Fund was established in 1973 to honor John L. Dales who served as the Screen Actors Guild Executive Secretary for 37 years.
The Dales Scholarships are awarded to eligible SAG-AFTRA members and their dependents to support study in undergraduate and graduate programs. The number of Dales scholarships awarded varies year-to-year. In 2012, the SAG Foundation awarded 86 scholarships at $4,200-$5,200 each.
