“As the chief negotiator, I unequivocally believe that this deal is the best deal we could possibly achieve given the strike and everything else that we did to achieve it. It absolutely warrants ratification and a yes vote by our members.”
Duncan Crabtree-Ireland
SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director & Chief Negotiator
On Nov. 8, the SAG-AFTRA TV/Theatrical Negotiating Committee reached a tentative agreement with the AMPTP. The gains achieved are expected to generate over $1 billion in new provisions and protections.
Naturally, members have questions about the new deal: “Will AI take our jobs?” “Will we ever see decent residuals from a streaming service?” “Is the self-tape process going to get better for actors?”
In this episode, SAG-AFTRA leaders answer these questions and provide insight into the agreement. With the aid of SAG-AFTRA Executive Vice President Linda Powell and Chief Contracts Officer Ray Rodriguez, SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland deep dives into the details of the 2023 TV/Theatrical Agreement. Together, they detail the negotiating committee’s work and discuss the agreement’s benefits, including new AI protections.
