The women of Hollywood's Leder family talk about the importance of community and gender equality in the industry.
I’ve had a few incidents where I’ve been disrespected, especially when I was a younger director. But I think, today, there’s no tolerance for that. People are trying to reflect more of the world and it’s getting better — but [our work’s] not done.

The professional networks women shape throughout their careers can directly influence their experiences in the entertainment and media industry. But how can expanding your community benefit your immediate and long-term creative and professional goals?
The SAG-AFTRA podcast presents a replay of the SAG-AFTRA President’s Task Force on Education, Outreach & Engagement livestream Follow the Leders. The original livestream aired in June and was done in partnership with the SAG-AFTRA National Women’s Committee and SAG-AFTRA National NextGen Performers Committee.
The panel featured the women of known industry family the Leders: Mimi Leder, director and The Morning Show (2019-2022) producer; Geraldine Leder, senior vice president of casting for Paramount Television Studios; Stefanie Leder, writer and Boo, Bitch (2022) co-executive producer; and filmmaker and The Morning Show actor Hannah Leder. SAG-AFTRA National Board member and National Women’s Committee Co-Chair Shari Belafonte served as moderator.
In this conversation, the Leder women discussed their experiences in the industry, their individual and collective work in further supporting women and mothers, and how a community — even one stemming from family ties — can help navigate the highs and lows of Hollywood.
Episode introduction by SAG-AFTRA Executive Vice President Ben Whitehair.
