I am saddened to report the passing of our beloved former local SAG Council member, Rob Gray, last Friday. Our hearts go out to his wife Ellen, also a former Council member, and his family.

Rob was a member of the legacy SAG Boston Council from 2008 until 2013. He also served on the national Committee for Diversity focusing on senior actors, the national committee for background actors and the local organizing committee. Rob was also an advocate for the merger of SAG and AFTRA and served during the transition.

Rob often worked alongside Ellen as background actors in many projects in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

It was always a pleasure seeing Rob’s cheerful face across the table at board meetings and on various committees; his input and ideas were valuable. SAG-AFTRA was fortunate to have him volunteering his expertise and service. I enjoyed chatting with Rob and Ellen on various sets, sharing jokes and stories in holding, and then playing characters in films. Rob was a generous man who will be missed. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones.

Friends are invited to a graveside funeral service, which will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, at Waterside Cemetery in Marblehead. You may read his obituary here

In unity,

Andrea Lyman
SAG-AFTRA New England President
