Content creators and industry experts offer their unique perspectives on this nascent technology.
I think what we’re going to be seeing going forward are interactive experiences for audiences that change the way we all interact with content. It’s not going to be substitutional, but it will add another layer to the creative content we see.

If you’ve been following the latest happenings in tech, you have likely heard of the metaverse. What may at first seem like a new buzzword among the tech-savvy is a shared, experimental space expected to bring real life changes to what we currently understand about social media, and with it, entertainment and media. But, is the metaverse really the wave of the future, or is it simply hype?
These and other questions were brought to SAG-AFTRA’s CES 2023 C Space Studio programming, Future Shock: The Tech and Trends Changing Entertainment. Joining SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director & Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland were a collective of content creators and tech and entertainment industry professionals: Calaxy Chief Executive Officer and co-founder Solo Ceesay; Unity Technologies Director, Live Entertainment Boo Wang; Amazon Web Services Senior Business Development Manager Charles Okochu and SAG-AFTRA Manager, Contract Strategic Initiatives Shaine Griffin. Together, the group deep-dive into discussing the metaverse and what its advent means for performers, entertainers and influencers.
Episode introduction by SAG-AFTRA Executive Vice President Ben Whitehair and Crabtree-Ireland.
