Futurist Brian Comiskey shares his thoughts on emerging technologies seen at CES 2024.

What makes generative A.I. a lot more scary is the technology [behind it] really is revolutionary. But then, the question is, can it really create? Is it really creative?

Brian Comiskey

CTA Director, Thematic Programs

SAG-AFTRA has maintained a presence at CES, the world’s largest technology showcase, hosted by the Consumer Technology Association, for over 20 years. CES is well known for its focus on innovations seen in everyday products and provides a forum to help better understand how emerging technologies are changing entertainment and media.

During CES 2024, SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland sat down with CTA Director, Thematic Programs and “resident futurist” Brian Comiskey for a one-on-one about this year’s showcase and the latest technological trends happening in film, video games, animation and beyond. Together, the two deep-dive into how society’s understanding of emerging, readily available technology, including generative artificial intelligence, is rapidly changing, and what will be necessary to ensure these innovations enhance the human experience.
