This episode focuses on the early stages of collective bargaining agreement negotiations.

Probably one of the most important aspects of collective bargaining is that it is fundamentally and inherently revolutionary. In every cycle of bargaining, we’re looking to improve upon what we did before; take things out that aren’t advantageous to members, and put in things that are; and make sure that we are evolving our contract provisions to address [industry changes]. There’s constant work and attention being paid to each of the contract areas.

Duncan Crabtree-Ireland

SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director & Chief Negotiator

SAG-AFTRA regularly negotiates contracts with major studios, networks and production companies on behalf of our members. The process is complex and involves members and staff, but most don’t see every step up close and in person.

This episode focuses on the early stages of negotiations for collective bargaining agreements. SAG-AFTRA Executive Vice President Linda Powell, who joins the podcast as a guest host, interviews TV Animation Negotiating Committee Co-Chair David Jolliffe, National Executive Director & Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland and Chief Contracts Officer Ray Rodriguez. Together, the group shines a light on the efforts of members and staff before heading to the negotiating table, including early preparations, wages and working conditions meetings and more.
