So-called “right-to-work” laws are a threat to labor and the power of collective bargaining, which is critical to ensuring that workers are fairly compensated and have safe working conditions.
This episode takes us to Missouri, one of the few states to overturn its “right-to-work” law. In August 2018, the state’s voters resoundingly defeated the anti-union Proposition A. SAG-AFTRA Missouri Valley Local Executive Director Maureen O’ Brien and Atlanta Local Board member and the union’s National Right-to-Work Committee Chair Ric Reitz talk with hosts President Gabrielle Carteris and National Executive Director David White about the history of right-to-work laws and their effects on the working class. O’Brien and Reitz offer a firsthand account of the events leading to the demise of Prop A and talk about the ongoing fight against “right-to-work” laws throughout the country.
