The SAG-AFTRA podcast deep-dives into the work of field representatives.
Stunt people especially don’t have managers or any representative besides our union, so when we have to approach a topic that makes everybody feel uncomfortable, I definitely appreciate the work [field reps] do. … It’s always great having them be ‘the other eyes’ and ensure all rules are being followed.

SAG-AFTRA National Board Member & New York Stunt Committee Chair
It’s always been true that SAG-AFTRA members face unique challenges during production that require expert oversight. This is where field representatives come in. From monitoring stunt sequences for films, television shows and commercial sets to ensuring child protection laws are being followed, field reps “work the beat” as on-set advocates in a multitude of ways.
In this podcast episode, SAG-AFTRA Executive Director, Field Services Jim Damis and National Board member and New York Stunt Committee Chair Samantha MacIvor (The Penguin) take listeners inside the critical work of the union’s frontline presence. Together, they outline the work of field reps and a “day in the life” on-set, and the importance of their dynamics with crew and members. They also discuss the 2021 Rust incident and the union’s response to bettering on-set vigilance and safety resources for members, including the 24/7 Safer Set hotline.
Hosted by SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director & Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland.
