SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher released the following statement applauding the passage today of the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act in the House omnibus spending bill:

"On behalf of SAG-AFTRA and personally as a victim and survivor of a violent crime, I want to applaud the passage of the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act in the omnibus spending bill today.

Brava to our members of the House for understanding the necessity to protect women and to continue to push the needle toward a more female-friendly culture.

I encourage the Senate to please keep the momentum by acting quickly to pass this critical legislation.

American women deserve these protections as well as an understanding and compassionate Congress!"
