SAG-AFTRA strike team wins gold for its communications efforts during the 2023 TV/Theatrical/Streaming negotiations and strike.

SAG-AFTRA’s collective efforts during its negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers and TV/Theatrical strike in 2023 have earned recognition from several national and international organizations. On May 1, the union was awarded the 2024 North American SABRE Gold Award for International Multimarket Campaign.

SAG-AFTRA Chief Communications & Marketing Officer Pamela Greenwalt accepted the honor on behalf of the strike team at the awards ceremony in New York City on May 1. National Board member Liz Zazzi attended the ceremony with Greenwalt.

“The selection of our campaign as the top contender is a welcome recognition of the hard work and dedication of our members, leadership and staff,” Greenwalt said, adding, “Our campaign was selected from the very best work submitted by top global marketing, public relations and communications firms. This is both affirmation of the quality and effectiveness of our work and recognition of the solidarity and power of our labor victory.  We are confident it will continue to empower SAG-AFTRA members and workers everywhere to fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, sustainable careers, and meaningful guardrails on invasive and destructive technologies.”

In addition to the win in the International Multimarket category, SAG-AFTRA’s strike campaign was also included in the top five contenders for Best of Show, ranking third out of 2,000 entries, including campaigns crafted by McDonald’s, the category winner, and second-place recipient Dove.

The SABRE — or “Superior Achievement in Branding Reputation and Engagement” — Awards are hosted by PRovoke Media, previously known as the Holmes Report.
