Alec Baldwin, Sterling K. Brown and Jane Lynch are among members sharing messages encouraging people to register for a vaccination.
On March 3, SAG-AFTRA began to roll out a series of videos from SAG-AFTRA members encouraging vaccinations for COVID-19. The videos, inspired by California Governor Gavin Newsom’s call to action for SAG-AFTRA and other organizations to help encourage vaccination, feature prominent union members such as Alec Baldwin, Jason George, Sterling K. Brown, Courtney B. Vance and Jane Lynch, with more to come.
SAG-AFTRA has been active with other unions and policymakers in response to the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, pandemic. Efforts have not only included joining coalitions towards the development of health and safety guidelines for working on-set, including the Safe Way Forward, but also calls for Congress to pass legislation towards providing economic relief for industry and labor workers, including the American Rescue Plan. The union has also released messaging encouraging safe-distancing practices on and off-set, and the National Board passed legislation for increased disciplinary action against members who fail to follow on-set safety protocols in late December.
From the start of the pandemic, safety and a safer return to work have been a priority for SAG-AFTRA. Vaccinations are the most vital part in the next phase of combatting this virus and getting back to work safely.
