The San Diego Conservatory Takes on Cold Readings

The San Diego Local hosted a conservatory on cold readings featuring actor and acting coach Kimberly Jentzen on Feb. 26. As the creator of the Jentzen Technique, she incorporates practices from Chekhov, Adler, Strasberg and Meisner into her teachings and provides actors with practical tools to cultivate honest characters and have successful auditions. For Jentzen, “Cold reading is not just for practice. It’s for getting a job.”

Attendees were divided into pairs and given sides to rehearse before initially presenting to the group. At the end of each presentation, Jentzen provided feedback before performers ran their lines for a second time, resulting in more impactful deliveries for many.
