San Diego Local President's Letter

My Fellow San Diego Local Members,

Your San Diego Local Board has had a series of educational and productive workshops. The local’s outreach and involvement with San Diego’s educational institutions, fellow unions and government officials is part of our long-term strategy to reinstall our San Diego Film Commission and bring more work to San Diego.

Our involvement in the Committee of Locals is increasing our relationships around the country. The Committee of Locals is a forum for identifying areas of common interest to mid-sized and small locals, which includes the union’s 23 locals outside of Los Angeles and New York. Recently, they hosted a conference that included panel discussions on broadcast organizing, labor relations, our next generation of leaders, and member engagement.

The commercial contracts negotiations process is now underway. In conjunction with the San Francisco-Northern California Local, a 2025 Commercials Contracts wages and working conditions (W&W) meeting was held where six proposals were unanimously approved for consideration. I encourage you all to get involved in this member-run process where all voices are heard and debated. For more information about upcoming meetings, click on link. 

Together, we will continue to identify our strengths, strengthen our weaknesses, take advantage of all opportunities and tackle all the threats facing our community of union members.
