LOS ANGELES--Screen Actors Guild National Executive Director/CEO A. Robert Pisano announced today that Michelle Bennett has been promoted to the position of national director of Guild governance. Bennett reports to Deputy National Executive Director for Planning and External Affairs, Pamm Fair.
Bennett now oversees national internal governance, Screen Actors Guild elections and all national and division board matters and committees. Bennett was previously SAG’s national associate director of governance and board relations. Former National Director of Governance, Clinta Dayton, retired in January.
“Michelle Bennett has done a remarkable job in implementing our new governance procedures. She has extensive knowledge of SAG governance policies and procedures and this is the ideal position to maximize Michelle’s skill and experience,” said Fair.
Bennett first came to the Screen Actors Guild in 1995 and has worked in various departments including claims, contracts, outreach and research. She was instrumental in collecting and interpreting data that supported SAG’s 2001 theatrical and television contract negotiations. Since moving to governance in 2002, Bennett has helped to implement SAG’s new Governance Plan, which was adopted and approved by the SAG national board in 2002.
