With the renewed incentive program, production in Louisiana is on the rise again. More than 30 features, five TV shows/series, and eight commercials have been shot in the New Orleans Local jurisdiction so far this year. SAG-AFTRA regional set relations representatives like Joel Reamer have conducted more than 70 set visits to film and television productions since January in Louisiana and Mississippi.
Regional set relations representatives monitor and enforce all SAG-AFTRA contracts on location. They review stunts, hazardous or rough work, potentially dangerous locations, treatment and protection of minors, and all cast, background actors and working conditions issues in general. Knowledge of how work rules are applied on set is important and often involves past practices and agreed-upon interpretations. Providing a consistent SAG-AFTRA presence on sets serves as a deterrent against rules being broken.
