On Sept. 28, members of SAG-AFTRA gathered in Utah at Washington Square Park in a show of solidarity for the TV/Theatrical/Streaming strike. SAG-AFTRA Regional Set Relations Representative Karen Silver, with the assistance of member Dale McKeel, greeted approximately two dozen members and organized a group photo. And member Mycole Metcalf helped by scouting the location and widely promoting the event.

Local news media attended what turned into an information update and exchange. Several members were interviewed in an effort to educate the public on details and the status of the ongoing negotiations. It was an amazing gathering full of smiles, optimism and strength, with all in attendance focused on standing strong in support of the strike and our Negotiating Committee.

The surprise of the day was the attendance of several members of the Air Line Pilots Association, the world’s largest airline pilot union, who were in town with their representatives negotiating a new contract. They joined us in solidarity, showing union-to-union support for our cause. We even asked them to join in on our photo op. They can be seen holding the Utah state flag. The event was fun, meaningful, and for many, was the initiation of newfound friendships.
