Hi, my name is Micha Espinosa and I am a board member for the Arizona – Utah Local. I am also a professor of voice and acting at Arizona State University. I’m extremely proud to share with SAG-AFTRA members the exciting and unique indie-academic production of Car Dogs that was filmed in the fall 2013 semester. The feature film gives a rare look into the funny, cutthroat and dramatic world of the car business. Some 100 Arizona State University Herberger Institute of Design and the Arts students learned how to prep, film, edit and publicize a feature film alongside veteran Hollywood professionals, thanks to a new internship program.
Hollywood film grip Craig “Cowboy” Aines and an ASU student on the set of Car Dogs.
The film stars Patrick J. Adams, George Lopez, Josh Hopkins, and Nia Vardalos. To view a trailer of the film, click here.
The project was essentially a working classroom with Hollywood cinematographers, producers, designers and performing artists serving as mentors. This new model will be replicated in the future and ASU hopes to continue to partner with the community to bring more opportunity.
