Your fellow union members are locked in a contract struggle with Cumulus Media and need your help.
KGO-AM, a venerable Bay Area institution, is known for its charismatic delivery of homegrown local news and programming. In 2011, the station was purchased by Cumulus Media, which has proceeded to prolong bargaining for a new contract by proposing to make changes to the existing contract, including, but not limited to, reducing scale rates and expanding the company’s ability to subcontract to non-local and non-union news operations.
As you may recall, we recently won two decisive elections with Cumulus in San Francisco bringing both the KNBR on- and off-air employees, and KGO off-air staff into our union. While we are gaining membership within Cumulus stations, we still need to show the company that their fellow SAG-AFTRA members are standing behind these workers.
