On Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, the United Federation of Teachers hosted SAG-AFTRA New York Local Board member Christine Bruno to speak with their members about how people with disabilities are portrayed and employed in the entertainment industry. The webinar, titled Civil Rights and Diversity in the Entertainment Industry: Authentic Portrayal of People, included conversation around how people with disabilities are portrayed and the employment of actors with disabilities. It also featured a short documentary about the making of the film Best Summer Ever, an original full-length musical featuring a fully integrated cast of performers with and without disabilities.
