Changes in the 2022 Commercials Contracts explained.
The SAG-AFTRA 2022 Commercials Contracts have introduced a number of changes to signatory commercial work, the biggest being rates for broadcasts made on television, radio and social media platforms.
To explain these changes, the SAG-AFTRA President’s Task Force on Education, Outreach & Engagement introduced a three-part series discussing the details of the provisions in the commercial agreements. The first, New Commercials Structure: Rates, aired on May 2 with SAG-AFTRA National Director, Commercials Contracts Tracy Hyman.
Hyman’s presentation explained the contracts’ new categories, or types — linear, or TV; digital; and other uses — the different commercial uses, and the new payment structure. She also delved into the changes to the Spanish-language provisions that were made previously under the agreements.
Following the presentation was a Q&A session.
