Vocal Variables for Performers and Broadcasters
Would you like to express yourself with greater authenticity? To keep your listeners engaged? To be more easily understood?
This short workshop will review some basic principles of voice and speech including breath, resonance, articulation, projection, and phrasing. In addition to a warmup, there will be an opportunity for practical application of skills to your choice of text or script.
Mira Kehoe has taught voice, speech, and dialects at the Guthrie Theater, the University of Minnesota, the University of Utah, and Hamline University, and consults with individuals and corporations. Mira has coached over 200 productions at the Guthrie, Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Children's Theater, Theatre de la Jeune Lune, the Jungle Theater, the Minnesota Opera, and others organizations. She has worked as a Dialect consultant on several films including The Parent Trap and The Mighty Ducks. Some of her clients have included Balogh Becker, Ltd., Shop NBC, MPR, and Allina. She teaches singing, and performs jazz and Brazilian music with Tom Kehoe.
Following the workshop, attendees are encouraged to join us at Lake Monster Brewing, located conveniently next door, to socialize and unwind with a beverage.
