Committee Chair Ellen Crawford; and SAG-AFTRA Military Personnel & Families Support Committee member Mark Valley.

Each year, SAG-AFTRA supports United Way of Greater Los Angeles’ 5k HomeWalk to help raise funds to help end homelessness in Los Angeles County. Once again, this year, SAG-AFTRA joined forces with the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor’s team, known as the Homeless Heroes, in Exposition Park on Nov. 21. While United Way’s HomeWalk takes on the wider mission of ending all homelessness in Los Angeles, Homeless Heroes is a team focused to raising funds to help transition homeless veterans and their families into permanent housing.

SAG-AFTRA National and L.A. Local Board member and Military Personnel & Families Support Committee member Jon Huertas and MPFS Committee member Mark Valley co-hosted the HomeWalk pre-show prior to the start of the 5k run/walk. Huertas and Valley interviewed activists, SAG-AFTRA members and L.A. County Federation of Labor Executive Secretary-Treasurer Rusty Hicks to shed light on the issue of homelessness in our community.
