Learn a little more about SAG-AFTRA San Diego Local Board Member, Casey Robinson.

"A little about me…

"Hi all! Well, I’m originally from Long Island, New York, where I worked in musical theater and voiceover. Most notably, I was the voice of Marchon Eyewear and did several ad campaigns for Newsday. In 1999, I moved west with my husband, a San Diego native, and our three kids to help take care of my aging in-laws.

"During the several years that I took off to raise my children and care for the folks, the voiceover industry changed, from heading into the studio to record, to do-it-yourself recording from home. Yikes! I decided to take a crack at working on camera in television and film and found, as a new union member, the bulk of the work was in L.A. — no big surprise. So for the past five or so years, I’ve been driving to L.A. for auditions, workshops, background work and the occasional voiceover job, though my heart longs to just stay in San Diego. Funnily enough, my biggest successes have been in voiceover (I guess I really am meant for the padded room). Currently in the works is an animated series in which I voice several characters. I idolized Mel Blanc and am now blown away by the talent of Seth McFarland, so it has always been my dream to create a number of voice characterizations that sound dramatically different from each other for one project. So, fingers crossed that the series gets picked up.

"I decided to run for a seat on the SAG-AFTRA San Diego Local Board to see what I could do to bring more union work back to San Diego. I’m looking forward to meeting all of you and working together to help make that happen. So that’s my story — now let’s hear yours. Send it to us at sandiego@sagaftra.org and it might be published in an upcoming issue of the San Diego Local newsletter. Thanks, and be sure to stop by the Studio Diner on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. for our SAG-AFTRA San Diego Local informal mixers. Super excited to meet you all!"
