SAG-AFTRA hosts an insightful conversation about gender equality in Hollywood with “Lilly” actor Patricia Clarkson.

The Women in the Arts & Media Coalition hosted a standout event for Women’s Arts Day 2025 at the SVA Theatre in New York City on March 29, 2025. In celebration of Women’s History Month, the event brought together industry professionals and moviegoers for an afternoon of inspiring conversation focused on equal pay.

The screening of Lilly (2025), a dramatic feature film based on the life of Lilly Ledbetter, captivated the audience. The film, directed by Rachel Feldman, stars Patricia Clarkson, John Benjamin Hickey and Thomas Sadoski, and chronicles the courageous journey of a tire factory worker fighting against injustice. Following the screening was a thought-provoking panel discussion featuring Clarkson and SAG-AFTRA Chief Labor Policy Officer & New York Local Executive Director Rebecca Damon, with SAG-AFTRA Executive Vice President & New York Local Vice President Linda Powell moderating.

The conversation centered around the movie’s timely themes of gender inequality and the fight for justice, drawing thoughtful questions from the packed house. Attendees actively engaged in discussions about the film and the ongoing need for equal pay in the entertainment industry.

Women Arts Day 2025 was made possible thanks to the collaboration of Women in the Arts & Media Coalition, SAG-AFTRA, HerFlix, WomenArts, NYWIFT and SVA Theatre, along with a dedicated team committed to amplifying women’s voices in media and the arts. The SAG-AFTRA New York Women’s Committee took a lead role in making the event a success.

Lilly, which won Best of the Fest at the 2025 Palm Springs International Film Festival and the Anti-Defamation League’s Stand Up Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, will be released theatrically in May.
