Move on over Oscar, Grammy, Tony and Emmy … the Baron has arrived!
It was a magical and emotional night as more than 75 Chicago Local members gathered at Vagabond School of the Arts for SAG-AFTRA Chicago Local’s first standalone Baron Awards on Sept. 24. Chicago Local members Craig Dellimore and Ilyssa Fradin, both past presidents of the Chicago Local, were honored for their continued exemplary service of over 50 years collectively.
Fradin, a union member for more than 20 years, is a multifaceted performer and labor activist. She has just completed her last term as SAG-AFTRA’s national vice president of mid-sized locals, deciding not to run again for the office. However, she remains a National and Chicago Local Board member.
Dellimore, a union member for over 30 years, is an award-winning journalist and broadcaster. In addition to being the first vice president of the Chicago Local, he has served as WBBM Newsradio’s political editor since 2001.
Also present was the recipient of the first Baron Award in 2018, and the member for whom the award is named: Bob Baron. Baron, a Chicago Local member since 1951, received accolades and praise for his 68 years of union service, dedication and commitment, not only from the guest presenters and honorees, but from the audience as well.
Congratulations to Craig Dellimore and Ilyssa Fradin! We thank them and Bob Baron for their years of service.
