Members at the workshop

The Dallas-Fort Worth Local held a conservatory event on Aug. 12. The event aimed to foster participation from members outside of the DFW area by creating a hybrid event with a Zoom option. Members who attended the conservatory virtually or in-person welcomed Sean Pratt, a veteran audiobook narrator with more than 27 years in the business. When he is not busy working or splitting his time between Oklahoma and London, Pratt coaches performers wanting to fine-tune their craft. We were also honored to welcome SAG-AFTRA National Director, Audiobooks Jane Love who offered advice to members just starting out in the world of audiobooks.

Pratt gave attendees more than one might expect from an intro talk. He provided a five-page informational packet and brought it to life. He began with a story detailing how he found himself in the booth. His presentation then covered a range of topics, including how to be efficient when auditioning to the rise of artificial intelligence and handling challenging manuscripts. He also offered resources and answered questions. It was a thoroughly entertaining and informative presentation.
