This June, the Entertainment Community Fund shines a spotlight on the health insurance services available to members of SAG-AFTRA through the Fund.
The Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund) is a national human services organization that helps address the specific needs of actors and other entertainment professionals — with a unique understanding of the challenges involved with a life in the arts and the knowledge of what it takes to thrive in an often-unpredictable industry.
Recognizing the need for affordable health insurance, the challenges of cycling on and off of union plans and the anxiety surrounding maintaining coverage and understanding the complexities of health care, the Fund’s Entertainment Health Insurance Solutions (EHIS) is here to provide comprehensive and compassionate support. A joint program of the Entertainment Community Fund and Motion Picture & Television Fund, EHIS is dedicated to helping members of the entertainment community identify and enroll in the best plans to suit their individual and family needs.
When faced with questions about health insurance coverage or the need to enroll in a new plan, members can turn to EHIS for one-on-one counseling from a licensed Covered California agent. Free and unbiased counseling services are available to all performing arts and entertainment professionals and provide guidance based on each individual’s unique circumstances.
In addition to personalized counseling, Every Artist Insured: California, a free online workshop on navigating the health insurance landscape is available twice per month and provides guidance on understanding the Affordable Care Act, determining what your Covered California options are and how to get the most affordable coverage.
For individuals who are transitioning to Medicare, the Fund’s Welcome to Medicare provides information on how it works, understanding the many options available and the timing of choosing and enrolling in coverage. Medicare-eligible SAG-AFTRA members, for example, can access group Medicare Advantage benefit plans (available throughout the year).
Whether seeking individualized counseling, help with understanding health insurance options or guidance on enrollment, Entertainment Health Insurance Solutions is here to help.
The health insurance services of the Fund are free and available to all members of SAG-AFTRA. To learn more, please visit ehisca.com.
