The New Orleans Local is hosting Let Me Tell You a Story – An Introduction to the Audiobook Industry presented by Sean Pratt. This FREE member-only event will cover the basics of recording audiobooks for commercial publishers. Audio narration is one of the fasted growing segments for union performers today! Sean Pratt is a nationally known audiobook narrator. Pratt has been a working actor for over 30 years and audiobook narrator for 22 years (aka – Lloyd James), recording over 950 books in almost every genre and has received 8 AudioFile Magazine “Earphones” awards and 5 “Audie” nominations from the Audio Publishers Association. Currently, Pratt coaches performers on audiobook narration technique, as well as teaching classes on and writes articles about the Business of the Biz.

Personalization: What is it?

Join Marilyn McIntyre as she teaches and discusses how the fusion of personal experience and imagination allows an actor to fully personalize the character and fictional circumstances.  
 
Actors who would like to perform a monologue and receive feedback should arrive 15-20 minutes early. Bring a headshot, resume and two copies of your monologue. Please have the material prepared to answer:

  • Who am I?
  • Who am I talking to?
  • What do I want? Why? What’s in the way?

Acting professionally for over 45 years, Marilyn McIntyre has played leading roles on and off Broadway with several major regional theatre companies. McIntyre has garnered a number of awards for her theatre work including Ovation and LA Drama Critics Circle. McIntyre has worked extensively in television (Greys Anatomy, Cold Case, Watch Over Me - a series regular, et al). Her film credits include Heaven’s Rain, On Holiday, and First Daughter to name a few. McIntyre can also be seen in the cult favorite live-action short, George Lucas In Love. McIntyre is a SAG-AFTRA member and has a MFA from Penn State and BFA from University of North Carolina.

New Media Low Budget Contract Workshop 101

Are you interested in producing a New Media project or a project going to film festivals with a budget less than $50,000, but don’t know where to start? Do you have questions regarding the rates, terms and conditions of the new 2017 New Media Agreement or the new Short Project Agreement? If you are creating a dramatic entertainment program for initial release on a new media platform or film festival, then this workshop is for you!

During this workshop, SAG-AFTRA staff will explain:

  • The intent and scope of the 2017 New Media Agreement;
  • Included rates, terms and conditions of the 2017 New Media Agreement;
  • Required signatory and productions documents;
  • The online preliminary information form;
  • Additional information required when submitting an application for a New Media project and;
  • The Short Project Agreement.

This workshop is free and open to anyone interested in producing entertainment content for new media. Please note you do not have to be a SAG-AFTRA member to attend. Seating is limited and RSVP’s are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. If you sign up for the workshop but cannot attend you must cancel your reservation no later than 24 hours before the event.

Important Note: The New Media Agreement does not apply to commercials, interactive games or programs that will have an initial release in traditional media (Network TV, Basic Cable, Pay TV, DVD, Theatrical, etc.).
