Today’s film and TV business requires working actors to exhibit real behavior, and real emotions, in front of the cameras. Take any show with strong emotional content, like This Is Us. No one wants to see an actor “faking” being sad or angry. We want to see the real thing. And so, in order to even be in the game, especially now when so many TV episodes are being cast, actors must have the tools to generate those real emotions and behaviors, at will, as many times as required, in auditions and on the set.
In this workshop, The Method Studio founder Aylam Orian will review the emotional preparation tools developed by the founding ‘parents’ of modern acting: Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler and Sanford Meisner. Through video clips and exercises, you will get a first-hand experience of some of these tools, which you could then use in your next audition and on the set.
Subjects covered will include:
- Lee Strasberg’s Sense Memory
- Stella Adler’s Imagination work
- Meisner’s “As If”
- Relaxation before emotional work
- How to use these tools in auditions and on the set
