SAG-AFTRA answers questions about payment rates for television, theatrical and new media productions.
SAG-AFTRA’s codified basic agreement governs everything related to television and theatrical work, including scheduling and payment rates. For performers seeking to better understand their contracts, it is important to understand how the Codified Basic Agreement determines provisions for different performances.
The SAG-AFTRA President’s Task Force on Education, Outreach & Engagement shed light on the subject with the What’s My Rate? The TV/Theatrical Agreement Explained livestream on Feb. 28. SAG-AFTRA Executive Vice President Ben Whitehair was joined by SAG-AFTRA National Director, Entertainment Contracts Jessica Johnson.
The presentation explained how negotiations lead to payment rate and scheduling updates for the television, theatrical and new media agreements. Also explained were the different schedules for performers, including day player and background actors, singers and dancers, and stunt performers and coordinators.
