“I’ve been pro-union all my adult life,” Toney-Jones proclaimed. “I believe there is strength in numbers. The more of us that are involved, the stronger we are as a union.”

The webinar, Making Sense of the U.S. Advertising Industry and What It Means for the SAG-AFTRA Commercials Contract, was designed to help members understand the current state of the industry and how it applies to negotiation of the 2019 Commercials Contracts and the 2019 Audio Commercials Contract.

Toney-Jones was one of a few like-minded local members who attended the two-hour webinar presented by SAG-AFTRA national executive staff. The webinar was also viewed by SAG-AFTRA members across the country.

While the contents of the webinar are confidential, Toney-Jones reiterated how important it is for members to be involved in all aspects of their careers, including the business side, which means taking an active role in their union. 

“Attend meetings, read the SAG-AFTRA emails and don’t delete them. Stay informed,” advised Toney-Jones.
