Dear Members,
We have been busy at the SAG-AFTRA Philadelphia Local and there's so much to discuss.
First things first: SAG-AFTRA just sent out a strike authorization vote. Please vote YES on the strike authorization. An authorization to strike does not mean we are voting to strike. It simply means we are trying to ensure we get a fair contract representative of today's reality. A “yes” vote is arming our TV/Theatrical contracts negotiators with the best tools we have to get the best contract they can for ALL of us. Some of the major issues on the table in our upcoming negotiations are economic fairness, residuals, AI protections and self-tape regulations.
Learn more at sagaftra.org/contracts2023. And then, please vote YES.
Most recently, we came out to support the WGA in their strike efforts. We will continue to support their efforts however we can! #WGAstrong https://www.sagaftra.org/philadelphia-local-members-picket-alongside-wga-members
Our annual membership meeting was held on May 3. Here's a recap of what took place: https://www.sagaftra.org/sag-aftra%E2%80%99s-philadelphia-local-holds-annual-membership-meeting
We also met for our first conservatory and Background Actors Committee events:

The SAG Awards® viewing party took place for the first time in three years:

In closing, it was also great seeing many of you at various recent in-person events. From the WGA strike to the SAG Awards® viewing party, conservatory and committee events, and our annual membership meeting, I’ve enjoyed our ability to reconvene. I'm looking forward to more, and more often getting back together to do what we have done for oh, so long and oh, so well in our great union town.
In unity,
Nicole Izanec
SAG-AFTRA Philadelphia Local President
