Boston Pride for the People

SAG-AFTRA New England is proud to announce our first official participation in the Boston Pride Parade, brought to you in conjunction with the NextGen Committee! Come join the celebration of love, culture, diversity, and intersectionality of the LGBTQIA+ community!

When: Saturday, June 8, gather at 10 a.m., parade kick off 11 a.m.

Join the SAG-AFTRA New England NextGen Committee, fellow members and allies on Saturday, June 8 as we march in the Boston Pride for the People Parade! The 1.7 mile, two-hour parade starts at 11 a.m. near the Prudential Center on Boylston Street and ends at the Boston Common. Parade participants MUST arrive before 11 a.m.

Due to a strict headcount by the parade organizers, members interested in marching with our contingent MUST complete the RSVP form. Further information about the event will be emailed to registrants, along with instructions on how to get a complimentary SAG-AFTRA Pride t-shirt.

Public Transportation/Ride Sharing: Due to the volume of people expected, the Boston Pride Parade encourages using public transit, ride sharing and carpooling.

Note: Pre-registration is required for this event and a complimentary SAG-AFTRA pride t-shirt will be available to registrants.

Contract Seminar for Parents of Young Performers

This seminar will cover Minor Contract Provisions for the TV/Theatrical contract and Commercials contract. It is important for parents of SAG-AFTRA minors to understand their rights on set, for auditions and beyond. The meeting will be held via ZOOM.  Please get your questions ready!

SAG-AFTRA Chicago Blood Drive

The SAG-AFTRA Chicago Blood Drive is back! We will be hosting a blood drive on Monday, October 21, 2024 from noon - 6pm in the KRC.  This is an amazing opportunity to help save lives, while hanging in the KRC with your fellow SAG-AFTRA members and friends.

Chicago Local Member 101

Welcome to the SAG-AFTRA Chicago Local! This Member 101 meeting is a must for new members, and a great refresher for the seasoned veteran actor!  

This is a valuable meeting to learn everything you need to know about SAG-AFTRA and all that we have to offer.  

Learn new things and get answers to any questions you have about SAG-AFTRA.

The meeting will be held in person at the KRC - 1 E. Erie, Suite 660, dinner will be served at 5:30pm.

2024 L.A. Pride Parade

Where: Hollywood Blvd.

Join the SAG-AFTRA National LGBTQ Committee, fellow members and allies on Sunday, June 9, as we march behind our SAG-AFTRA banner during the L.A. Pride Parade! The parade starts at 11 a.m. in Hollywood and will be on Hollywood Blvd. (between Highland Ave. and Cahuenga Blvd). Due to a strict headcount by the parade organizers, we need all members interested in marching with our contingent to register by filling out the RSVP form below. Further information on when and where to meet will be emailed to you along with instructions on how to get a complimentary SAG-AFTRA Pride T-Shirt.

When: Sunday, June 9

Where: Between Highland Ave. and Cahuenga Blvd. on Hollywood Blvd. The exact meeting point will be provided to you closer to the event date.

New York Local Member Orientation

During this in-person meeting you'll hear from local leaders and staff about membership, contract and safety information you should know about. There will be plenty of time to ask questions.

IN PERSON - Stand-Up Comedy Workshop

Description:
Join the SAG-AFTRA LA Conservatory for the Stand-Up Comedy Workshop.

Understand how multi-camera acting directly correlates to stand-up comedy. Learn how to set-up a joke, and land a punch-line. Learn how to be open and honest and harness those skills to make you a better, more confident actor. 

Take your life experiences, the subject of a “killer” stand-up set! This workshop will go over stand-up comedy basic rules including setup, premise and stage etiquette, and selected individuals will have the opportunity to test out freshly minted material before the end of the workshop. Taught by Cool Beans Comedy producer and coach Corey Martin Craig, with more than 10+ years of stand-up comedy instruction. 

Best for performers over the age of 18.

IN PERSON - Owning the Frame: Strategies For Courageous Auditions

Description:

Given the opportunity to express yourself, where do you stop and what do you stop yourself with? Award-winning actor Karen Austin unpacks self-sabotage, your discomfort zone, the leap into strong choices, and practical techniques for delivering your best. The opposite of fear is work. There may be group exercises and a few participants may perform on-camera, time permitting. 

Best for performers over the age of 18. 

About Karen Austin

Her career includes decades of lead roles on film, stage & TV,  LA Drama Critics Circle & Dramalogue Awards, an M.A. from Northwestern University and election to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. She has taught at Stanford, the NY Actors Institute and the LA SAG-AFTRA Conservatory. She co-leads the Mastery of Creativity Workshop, and holds a weekly studio scene study class.
