Nearly 1,000 L.A. Local members attended the viewing party for the 25th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at the annual member viewing party on Jan. 27 at the Alex Theater in Glendale. Organized by the SAG-AFTRA L.A. Host Committee, the annual event, often lauded as one of the local’s most popular events, brings L.A. members together to watch their peers be recognized for their craft.

Attendees enjoyed the traditional event fair, free popcorn and soda pop, and the option of purchasing more snacks and classic Hollywood-themed cocktails, but the fun did not stop there. NARS cosmetics makeup artists were on site with a pop-up makeover booth, ready to perform complimentary “red-carpet” consultations for the event guests. Once “all dolled up,” attendees were quick to find their seats in the opulent art deco theater and enjoy the first of many raffles while waiting for the awards show to start. SAG-AFTRA L.A. Host Committee Chair Vivicca Whitsett and fellow committee member BJ Lange emceed the raffles prior to the awards and during every commercial break. Prizes included various SAG-AFTRA swag bags, complimentary movie tickets and one special NARS makeup gift box grand prize.

The 2019 SAG Awards took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Downtown Los Angeles. Host Megan Mullally served up dance moves and humorous skits throughout the evening. Among the night’s most notable recipients were Bohemian Rhapsody actor and first-time nominee Rami Malek for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role, The Wife’s Glenn Close for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role and Black Panther for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Veteran actor and philanthropist Alan Alda received the 55th Life Achievement Award.
