The SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Conservatory is pleased to offer you the opportunity to learn from the “experts”:  your fellow SAG-AFTRA members who successfully work the Commercial Contract from Off Camera to On-Camera.  

We are thrilled for you to learn from and ask questions of: Jamison Reeves (AARP, Bud Light - Super Bowl), Cyd Strittmatter (Walmart, Apple), Miller Tai (Hilton, Apple), Natalia Castellanos (Verizon, Bimbo Bakery), Nancy Linari (Progressive, Master Card), Tessa Claire Hersh (HR Block Campaign, Wendy’s), and Iris Liu (Toyota, Progressive).  Moderated by Lee Garlington.

About Rich Varville

Rich Varville is a San Diego based filmmaker and recording artist that gained notoriety from his unique style of story-based, cinematic, music films. In addition, he produces and directs narrative, industrial, and documentary films through his company RSVP FILMS.

Originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado, he studied media production at Pikes Peak College before relocating to San Diego and studying psychology at Palomar College in San Marcos, CA. These two very different studies eventually led to his vision of creating thought provoking films that illustrate the human condition.

Join us for Actors Evening - “Finding Representation Post Covid!” An opportunity to discuss with Joel King (Pakula King and Associates), Alicia Ruskin (True Artists Agency, LLC), and Pam Ellis (Ellis Talent Group) your questions and issues with finding representation and booking work in our current hybrid world. A chance to get suggestions and advice from seasoned experts.  

The moderator, Lee Garlington, will ask questions for the first 20-30 minutes. The evening will then be opened up for you to ask your questions.

Contract Seminar for Parents of Young Performers

Description:
Join the SAG-AFTRA LA Conservatory for the Stand-Up Comedy Workshop.

Understand how multi-camera acting directly correlates to stand-up comedy. Learn how to set-up a joke, and land a punch-line. Learn how to be open and honest and harness those skills to make you a better, more confident actor. 

Take your life experiences, the subject of a “killer” stand-up set! This workshop will go over stand-up comedy basic rules including setup, premise and stage etiquette, and selected individuals will have the opportunity to test out freshly minted material before the end of the workshop. Taught by Cool Beans Comedy producer and coach Corey Martin Craig, with more than 10+ years of stand-up comedy instruction. 

Best for performers over the age of 18.

Description:

Given the opportunity to express yourself, where do you stop and what do you stop yourself with? Award-winning actor Karen Austin unpacks self-sabotage, your discomfort zone, the leap into strong choices, and practical techniques for delivering your best. The opposite of fear is work. There may be group exercises and a few participants may perform on-camera, time permitting. 

Best for performers over the age of 18. 

About Karen Austin

Her career includes decades of lead roles on film, stage & TV,  LA Drama Critics Circle & Dramalogue Awards, an M.A. from Northwestern University and election to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. She has taught at Stanford, the NY Actors Institute and the LA SAG-AFTRA Conservatory. She co-leads the Mastery of Creativity Workshop, and holds a weekly studio scene study class.
