During the Nevada Local membership meeting on June 2 at SON Studios in Las Vegas, we had the pleasure of hosting two SAG-AFTRA representatives offering relevant and important information and insight.
Our first guest was Donna Reed, who joined the union in 2007. She currently serves on the EEO & Diversity team, which works to ensure compliance of equal employment opportunities and mandates in all SAG-AFTRA contract areas, including protections for minors and protection from sexual harassment. Reed provided practical insight and guidance to members on how to prevent, address and recover from harassment on the job as well as in their pursuit of work in the entertainment and news industry.
Our next guest was Cedric Jackson, SAG-AFTRA’s director of the Stunts & Safety Department. Jackson has served as the director of safety with various organizations prior to joining AFTRA, where he served as the national coordinator for EEO & Diversity. He continued to serve in that same capacity after the merger, and also worked as a business representative before assuming his current role. Jackson’s presentation was a walkthrough of the Theatrical and Television contracts, providing information about the basics of the agreements SAG-AFTRA members work under. It is a basic philosophy to empower the member to be able to recognize when questionable issues arise.
Thank you to both for their generous time and information to enlighten and empower our Nevada Local membership!
