On Saturday, Dec. 8, the Nevada Local hosted its annual membership meeting, followed by a holiday party that included industry professionals. Held at the Show Creators Studio in Las Vegas, guests walked in and immediately knew they were in for a festive time. From the registration area to the main studio, there were special touches throughout.

The 50-plus members in attendance had an opportunity to hear from their elected officers and SAG-AFTRA staff. Nevada Local President Kim Renee kicked things off and reported on the outreach she’s done with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and area high schools, and ways the local can give back to the community during next year’s holiday season. Other topics covered during the meeting included the breadth and depth of recent conservatory workshops, new stunt and safety initiatives spearheaded by SAG-AFTRA, why working in a so-called “right-to-work” state still requires members to adhere to Global Rule One, differences between casting directors and talent agents, and the upcoming SAG Awards viewing party on Jan. 27. Staff member Cynthia Williams closed the meeting with a brief overview of the new Short Project Agreement, which brings together some of the best aspects of the Short Film Agreement and the Low Budget New Media Agreement. Afterwards, guests mingled with new and familiar faces, laughed out loud and enjoyed a scrumptious lunch buffet.
