About Our Local - New Orleans

The Communications Committee strives to identify ways to inform and improve communications to meet the needs of New Orleans Local members through email, news articles on the website/app, magazine articles, printed materials and photography at events.  

The Community Service Committee’s goal is to help our local communities by participating in service events in a manner that also promotes a positive awareness of SAG-AFTRA New Orleans Local members.

The purpose of the Conservatory Committee is to educate, enhance, and challenge upward growth for all skill level industry professionals in the SAG-AFTRA New Orleans local.

The Mississippi Committee focuses on outreach and education to members, performers, students, filmmakers, and industry professionals in Mississippi.

The Outreach Committee’s goal is organizing through outreach to members, performers, students, filmmakers and industry professionals in Louisiana.

The Reinstatement Obligation Review Committee reviews leniency requests from former members wishing to reinstate their membership.

The SAG Awards Party Committee plans and assists with hosting a viewing party of the SAG Awards held locally.

The Stunt Committee meets as needed to address issues impacting the stunt community. 

The Women’s Committee works to empower our female members and improve gender parity in our union. It encourages positive and diverse images of women and the elimination of gender bias, ageism, and other prejudices – both on set and onscreen. The Women’s Committee will focus immediately on improving work safety through advances in our industry’s approach to sexual assault and misconduct. The Women’s Committee is exploring other avenues toward empowerment and work safety through mentorship, self-defense training, and other approaches.
