The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) and Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) have agreed to an extension of the 2020 TV/Theatrical contracts. The agreements, which were set to expire at 11:59 p.m. PT tonight, will now expire on July 12, at 11:59 pm PT. The parties will continue to negotiate under a mutually agreed upon media blackout.
Neither organization will comment to the media about the negotiations during the extension.

The union, along with the AMPTP, have agreed to extend the contracts through Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. PT.
-
Under this extension agreement, all terms and conditions of the Codified Basic Agreement and Television Agreement continue in full force and effect until 11:59 p.m. PT on July 12, 2023, including the “no strike” provisions. Accordingly, members should continue to report for work as usual up until further notice.

The SAG-AFTRA National Board will meet on July 13, 2023 to assess whether a satisfactory deal has been reached. Based on that assessment, the National Board will determine whether to declare a strike. Membership will be advised immediately of the Board’s decision by email, on the union website, and through all union communications channels. Members should be prepared for the very real possibility that the National Board will declare a strike of the Codified Basic Agreement and Television Agreement effective as early as July 13, 2023.
-
As part of declaring a strike, the National Board will approve a set of strike rules specifically enumerating member obligations. Members should anticipate that all work covered by the Codified Basic Agreement and Television Agreement will cease immediately including auditions, publicity and promotional activities, entering into agreements for future work and, of course, rendering performances for covered work
