SAG-AFTRA Chief Labor Policy Officer & New York Local Executive Director Rebecca Damon participated in The Future of Work and Digital Technology: a Focus on Augmentation vs. Automation on Feb. 3, 2025, in San Jose, California.
The salon-style event was hosted by the Omidyar Network, a philanthropic organization focusing on utilizing technology for economic, social and political equity. It brought together leaders across the tech, academic and nonprofit sectors, as well as noted legislators, labor leaders and subject-matter experts. Those present included representatives from the SEIU, California Labor Federation, the University of California Berkeley, the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence and Google.
The Future of Work gave attendees the opportunity to share their perspectives on how advances in A.I. and other technologies could augment jobs rather than replace workers. As part of the event, U.S. Rep. Ro Khanna, Calif., shared passages from his book Dignity in a Digital Age, and FGS Global Partner Graeme Trayner presented the FGS’ findings from a recent poll on worker sentiments toward A.I. and technology in the workplace.
