Los Angeles Local Member Orientation - Sept. 8

Where: Online

When: 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. PT. Reservations required by 5 p.m. Sept. 6

We’d love to meet and see you at our next SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles member orientation. Besides, it’s fun to meet and get to know the members who are just getting started as well as those that are helping to orientate you as you grow in your career.

Being a member of the union is so much more powerful than you may realize. You’re now part of the entertainment labor movement, part of an army to protect and increase the value of our art, part of a family of 160,000 members nationwide that have each others’ backs, and you now have another place to call home.

In order to take advantage of every way your membership in the union can support your success, it is vitally important that you understand how your union works and how you can and should get involved.

A member orientation is the first step to learning everything you need to know.

In the orientation, we'll cover:

  • How your union is set up and governed here in Los Angeles and across the country.
  • Contracts - what you need to know to feel safe, respected, and not losing money.
  • Benefits of membership - education, networking, healthcare and pension.
  • Membership rules.
  • The categories of performers covered by the union.
  • Sister unions, guilds, organizations and associations that support our membership.
  • Plus, we’ll answer your questions in a relaxed, open forum.

The orientation will be conducted via Zoom.

  • Zoom meeting log-In information will be provided to attendees the day prior to your orientation session (watch for an email from Zoom).
  • You don’t need to have your camera on or be camera-ready (although we’d love to see your faces), but please come and listen and learn about your new union, SAG-AFTRA.
  • Submit any questions or topics you’d like addressed in advance to larsvp@sagaftra.org so we may be prepared with answers.  But even if you don’t have questions or know what to ask, we've got you.

It’s really important to us that you attend an orientation. We need all L.A. Members to be UNION LITERATE, defined as having a functional understanding of your union.

For more information about the SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Local, click here.

If you have any questions about this event, please email larsvp@sagaftra.org.

RSVP: Reservations are required by 5 p.m. Sept. 6. Please complete form below to RSVP. Please note that you must be logged in to see the RSVP form below.

This event is open only to paid-up SAG-AFTRA members in good standing (paid thru October 31, 2022 or in compliance with the May 2022 Dues Relief Extension) - no guests are allowed. Parents/guardians of performers under 18 years old are welcome.
