SAG-AFTRA Members Elect Fran Drescher President of Union and Joely Fisher as Secretary-Treasurer

Fran Drescher and Joely Fisher have been chosen by SAG-AFTRA’s national membership to fill the respective roles of president and secretary-treasurer, two of the union’s highest-ranking offices. Their two-year terms began immediately upon the certification of the ballot count today. 

A total of 122,154 ballots were mailed. Of the total number of votes, 32,362 were returned, equating to a return of 26.49%. In the election for president, Drescher received 16,958 votes, followed by Matthew Modine with 15,371 votes. For the post of secretary-treasurer, Fisher received 18,547 votes, followed by Anthony Rapp with 13,593 votes.

“I am honored to serve my union in this capacity. Together we will navigate through these troubled times of global health crisis and together we will rise up out of the melee to do what we do best, entertain and inform,” said Drescher. “We must never forget the important contribution we make to many millions of people each and every day when they buy a ticket to sit in a dark theater or turn on their TVs or streaming devices.”

2021 SAG-AFTRA Arizona-Utah Local Election Results Announced

On Friday, August 27, 2021, the ballot tabulation of the Arizona-Utah Local election was conducted. Please note that some candidates ran unopposed and were declared elected without the necessity of a membership vote. Following are the results of the election. Those positions that required a balloted election are listed with an asterisk*.

Those members elected as Local Officers, Local Board members and Convention Delegates, by virtue of their election to those positions, are also elected as Alternate National Board members who may be called upon to serve at National Board meetings when the National Board member from the Arizona-Utah Local is unable to attend. The National Board Member and President, by virtue of their election to those positions, also serve as Convention Delegates.

The newly elected leaders will be installed in office on September 2, 2021. 

2021 SAG-AFTRA Atlanta Local Election Results Announced

On Wednesday, August 25, 2021, the ballot tabulation of the Atlanta Local election was conducted. Please note that some candidates ran unopposed and were declared elected without the necessity of a membership vote. Following are the results of the election. Those positions that required a balloted election are listed with an asterisk*.

Those members elected as Local Officers, Local Board members and Convention Delegates, by virtue of their election to those positions, are also elected as Alternate National Board members who may be called upon to serve at National Board meetings when the National Board member from the Atlanta Local is unable to attend. The President, by virtue of their election to that position, also serves as a Convention Delegate.

The newly elected leaders will be installed in office on September 2, 2021.

On Wednesday, August 18, 2021, the ballot tabulation of the Chicago Local election was conducted. Please note that some candidates ran unopposed and were declared elected without the necessity of a membership vote. Following are the results of the election. Those members elected as Local Officers, Local Board members and Convention Delegates, by virtue of their election to those positions, are also elected as Alternate National Board members who may be called upon to serve at National Board meetings when the National Board members from the Chicago Local are unable to attend. The National Board Member and President, by virtue of their election to those positions, also serve as Convention Delegates.

The newly elected leaders will be installed in office on September 2, 2021.

Those members elected as Local Officers, Local Board members and Convention Delegates, by virtue of their election to those positions, are also elected as Alternate National Board members who may be called upon to serve at National Board meetings when the National Board member from the Colorado Local is unable to attend. The National Board Member and President, by virtue of their election to those positions, also serve as Convention Delegates.

The National Board Member and President, by virtue of their elections to those positions, also serve as Convention Delegates.

Please note that one candidate ran unopposed and was declared elected without the necessity of a membership vote. Following are the results of the election. Those members elected as Local Officers, Local Board members and Convention Delegates, by virtue of their election to those positions, are also elected as Alternate National Board members who may be called upon to serve at National Board meetings when the National Board member from the Hawaii Local is unable to attend. The National Board Member and President, by virtue of their election to those positions, also serve as Convention Delegates.

The newly elected leaders will be installed in office on September 2, 2021. 

2021 SAG-AFTRA Houston-Austin Local Election Results Announced

On Friday, August 20, 2021, the ballot tabulation of the Houston-Austin Local election was conducted. Please note that some candidates ran unopposed and were declared elected without the necessity of a membership vote. Following are the results of the election. Those positions that required a balloted election are listed with an asterisk*.

Those members elected as Local Officers, Local Board members and Convention Delegates, by virtue of their election to those positions, are also elected as Alternate National Board members who may be called upon to serve at National Board meetings when the National Board members from the Houston-Austin Local are unable to attend. The President, by virtue of their election to that position, also serves as Convention Delegate.

The newly elected leaders will be installed in office on September 2, 2021. 

2021 SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Local Election Results Announced

On Thursday, September 2, 2021, the tabulation count of the Los Angeles Local election was declared. Jodi Long was elected Los Angeles Local President. Sheryl Lee Ralph was elected First Vice President and David Jolliffe was elected Second Vice President of the Los Angeles Local.

In addition, the following candidates ran unopposed and are deemed elected without the necessity of a balloted election:

Local Board Member – Dancer – Danielle Towne; National Board Member – Singer/Recording Artist – Dan Navarro; Convention Delegate – Broadcast – News/Information – Rob Archer and Joy Benedict.

Those members elected as Local Officers, Local Board members and Convention Delegates, by virtue of their election to those positions, are eligible to serve as Alternate National Board members who may be called upon to serve at National Board meetings when National Board members from the Los Angeles Local are unable to attend. The Local President, Local Officers and National Board members, by virtue of their election to those positions, shall also serve as Convention Delegates. The Local Officers also serve on the Local Executive Committee. 

The newly elected leaders take office immediately.

2021 SAG-AFTRA Miami Local Election Results Announced

On Tuesday, August 17, 2021, the ballot tabulation of the Miami Local election was conducted. Please note that some candidates ran unopposed and were declared elected without the necessity of a membership vote. Following are the results of the election. 2021 SAG-AFTRA New York Local Election Results Announced

On Thursday, September 2, 2021, the tabulation count of the New York Local election was declared. Ezra Knight was elected New York Local President.
